Grace Hebert Curtis Architects (GHC) is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Lafayette team. With a strong track record and repeat clients in various sectors including healthcare, hospitality, education, corporate, and more. Responsibilities:


  • Perform engineering calculations and develop electrical construction specifications.
  • Develop drawings including one-line diagrams, area classifications plans & details, grounding & routing plans, installation details, and wiring schematics & diagrams.
  • Oversee construction assessments, quality assurance, and review submissions requiring specialized expertise beyond construction management.
  • Ensure quality control for active projects and mentor less experienced engineers within the department.
  • Work with other disciplines of Engineers, Designers, and Construction QA/QC for scope and deliverables completion
  • Assist with preparation of contracts in defining scope, programming, and scheduling.
  • Create cost estimates and timelines, scrutinize preliminary and final designs, plans, and specifications for technical adequacy.
  • Conduct detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
  • Generate necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets, and progress reports, as well as prepare finalized construction drawings suitable for contractor bidding.
  • Monitor installations and operations to verify adherence to design, equipment specifications, and safety protocols.
  • Utilize computer-aided engineering software (such as Revit & AutoCAD) for assigned engineering tasks.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements in electrical engineering.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and orientation processes.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding and application of code compliance requirements and industry standards, including NEC, NFPA, and IEEE codes for power system design.
  • Proficient in planning and report generation.
  • Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Showcase proficiency in project management, planning, organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking.
  • Display a strong understanding comprehension of construction techniques and practices, with adept problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Have expertise in electrical layout design, inspection, and cost estimation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, engineering software for project planning and circuit diagrams, and familiarity with power, control switchgear, lighting, batteries, fire alarm systems, and CAD/Revit tools.
