Job description

Role Summary

The Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Designer is responsible for leading detailed project design and drafting activities within a project engineering environment. This temporary position requires extensive experience in electrical and instrumentation design, ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects. The role involves technical oversight, collaboration with stakeholders, and adherence to industry standards and company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers in accordance with project standards.
  • Develop and manage conduit and cable numbering systems for engineering projects.
  • Resolve drawing development issues promptly to maintain project timelines.
  • Draft and update record drawings, ensuring accuracy and industry compliance.
  • Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), general equipment layouts, and facility plot plans.
  • Assist in developing project scopes, engineering/design scopes, and construction scopes of work for contracting purposes.
  • Participate in project meetings to gather client requirements and contribute technical insights for efficient design.
  • Review work schedules and man-hour estimates to optimize project execution.
  • Coordinate distribution and review of design packages with stakeholders to facilitate smooth project progression.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain material quotes, availability, and develop material data sheets.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Two-year college drafting degree, technical school training, or equivalent experience working with CADD drafting software, processes, and systems.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a project engineering or design environment.
  • Proven senior-level experience in electrical and instrumentation design, including equipment specification and detailed drafting.
  • Experience with preparing process flow diagrams, P&ID, equipment layouts, and facility plots.
  • Strong understanding of project scope development, contract scopes, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with project teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to travel by air and/or automobile to project sites as needed.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Publishing Pay Range: $78.00 - $80.00 hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
