Job description

Title : Technical Support & QA Specialist
Location : Orlando, FL (Remote)
Rate : $50/hr
The Technical Support & QA Specialist provides field support for a corporate hybrid web application while ensuring software quality through structured testing. This role is evenly split between technical support and quality assurance, requiring a problem-solver who can work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and document processes thoroughly.
This position manages and maintains the application installer, updater, and launcher (developed in AutoIt) and handles PowerShell-based installation scripts. Additionally, it involves developing and executing QA procedures and test scripts to validate new features and perform regression testing on existing functionality.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Support & Deployment
  • Provide technical support for field users, troubleshooting issues efficiently.
  • Manage and enhance the AutoIt-based installer, updater, and launcher.
  • Develop, update, and maintain PowerShell scripts for application deployment via Intune.
  • Ensure smooth software updates, identifying and resolving deployment issues.
  • Implement creative solutions to improve application reliability and user experience.
  • Document all scripts, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

Quality Assurance & Testing
  • Develop and execute QA procedures for new enhancements.
  • Create and maintain automated and manual test scripts for regression testing.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects, collaborating with developers.
  • Research and refine testing strategies independently.
  • Document all testing procedures, findings, and resolutions.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for deployment and automation.
  • Experience in a Windows environment, including registry management and system configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoIt or similar scripting tools for application installation.
  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and issue tracking.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing, including scriptable QA tools.
  • Familiarity with version control and DevOps workflows.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation and process development.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and learn new technologies.

Preferred Experience
2+ years in technical support, software deployment, or QA.
