Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). DUTIES:
  • Work under the direction of psychologist supervisor to support clinical programming.
  • Participate in program development and review.
  • Make routine site visits and coordinate data collection regarding treatment activities.
  • Provide training for clinicians and department staff.

  • Participate in accreditation and continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide direct patient care individually or group therapy.

Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in behavioral science plus supervisory experience and experience in program administration treatment, a rehabilitation of individuals with service, persistent mental illness, or sex offender services experience (for sex offender clinical program manager position.)
Preferred Qualifications: Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner or possess another license that allows the incumbent to provide the above mental health services as required by NE. Rev. Statute 38-2122. Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development, Psychology, Family Relations, Vocational Rehabilitation, Art Therapy, Divinity, Human Resources, Naturopathy, Mental Health or other field approved by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in order to become a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. 3000 hours of post-degree supervised counseling experience. Experience providing individual and group therapy. Experience supervising master's level or higher staff. Experience working in behavioral health in a hospital setting. Experience working in a correctional setting.
Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
