Job description

Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll and maintaining the employee database regarding salary, pay and timekeeping systems.

Responsibilities
  1. Respects and maintains customer confidentiality. Demonstrates a positive and caring attitude towards all customers and staff. Responds to payroll-related inquiries and resolves concerns.
  2. Prepares bi-weekly payrolls for corporations under the DePaul Umbrella. This includes collecting all related information, timesheet auditing and corrections, maintaining employee database, tracking deductions, and any other necessary calculations.
  3. Accurately input payroll data into Payroll System and Time & Attendance system. This includes permanent and one-time changes, retroactive adjustments, and edits in time and attendance system.
  4. Responsible for computing manual checks and ensuring manual checks are entered into the Payroll system. Responsible for processing stop payments and ensuring that they are entered in the system.
  5. Oversees garnishees. Receives income executions, notifies staff, and tracks deductions.
  6. Responsible for year end payroll procedures, and any audits internal or external.
  7. Prepares Payroll Reconciliation and assists accounting for reconciling items.
  8. Runs standard payroll reports and creates reports for Accounting, Program Directors, and management.
  9. Proofs other DePaul payrolls.
  10. Assists with PTO and NYS Sick & Safe adjustments.
  11. Serves as backup to others in the payroll department.
  12. Serves as a resource to HR/Payroll team as well as other DePaul departments.
  13. Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma required; college education preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1-3-years' experience in Payroll preferred.
Skills: Attention to detail, Microsoft Office experience, accounting skills, ADP experience preferred, verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, ability to multi-task, organizational skills, and ability to work with a team.
