Job description

The Katherine Thomas High School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades 9-12 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTHS has an opportunity for a few Special Education High School Teaching Assistants (TA) beginning with the current school year. Be a part of a supportive team with friendly staff and help to make a difference in someone's life. Work hours are 7:30 am to 3:15 pm M - F. EOE

Hourly Rate of $19- $24/hour, DOE

Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:

  • Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
  • Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher's instruction and school/program rules
  • Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
  • Create a supportive learning environment
  • Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
  • Drive the school minivan as needed
