ABOUT THE JOB

We're looking for a driven and detail-oriented Estimator & Business Development professional to join and help grow our scaffolding division. In this role, you will be responsible not only for accurately estimating and bidding current project opportunities, but also for actively developing new business, generating sales, and bringing in work to support continued growth.

This position plays a critical role in both securing and executing projects-you'll lead estimating efforts from concept through completion while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and industry partners to expand our presence in the market.

You’ll be joining a team where your precision, initiative, and expertise make a measurable impact. A strong background specifically within the construction scaffolding industry is essential, as your hands‑on knowledge and industry insight will be key in driving successful project outcomes and contributing to the continued growth of our business.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  • Identify and pursue new project leads and client relationships
  • Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packages
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and/or budgets
  • Perform accurate quantity take‑offs and develop bid packages
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors for pricing and scope coverage
  • Attend job walks, pre‑bid meetings, and planning sessions
  • Provide value engineering and cost‑saving solutions
  • When the quantity survey is complete, establish profit & overhead for project when requested
  • Use the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)
  • Identify and report any observed inaccuracies or omissions in plans and specifications
  • Maintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)
  • Review and analyze quotes to assure they meet the standards and specifications for the project
  • Utilize D2 Estimating templates with proficiency to (a) extract production rates, (b) input quantity and costs according to phases of work required
  • Immediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completely
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation for each bid
  • While it is impossible to list every duty that may be asked of an employee, the Employer may ask that employee to perform other duties as the business need arises.
ABOUT YOU

In addition to your passion and purpose, to be successful in this Estimator & Business Development role, you will possess the following:

  • Proven experience in scaffolding or soft craft estimating
  • Strong background in construction business development
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional education and/or experience in the construction and/or relevant industries
  • Thorough understanding of estimating and/or construction project controls
  • Significant level of overall experience in the design/construction field, specifically industrial and commercial scaffolding
  • Proficient with Microsoft operating systems and software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) with an ability to accurately learn new software quickly
  • Strong working knowledge of Viewpoint & Sutor Soft Estimating Spreadsheets
