Job description

Purpose:

This role is the primary Sustainability support for all NSG sites in the North America & Solar sites in Southeast Asia (NA Sites), ensuring compliance with the NSG Group Environmental, Health & Safety, and Sustainability Policies, and all applicable regulatory compliance and Management Systems requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain regional environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (EHS&S) compliance programs for implementation at all NA sites. Work closely with each facility to track compliance with applicable regulations and develop methods by which facilities can improve their adherence to the regulations.
  • Develop site EHS Managers by providing technical/compliance support and training for completion of permit applications, EHS&S reports, stack testing plans and other EHS&S matters, to develop site EHS Managers.
  • Develop and implement audit programs for Management Systems and EHS&S regulatory requirements, to ensure compliance and continual improvement. This includes managing a team of internal auditors for cross facility management system audits, in addition to managing 3rd party audit contracts.
  • Function as the Regional Management Representative for the development, maintenance, and implementation of Management Systems covering all manufacturing sites and acts as liaison for third party auditors/registrars for maintenance of all regional Management System certificates, including but not limited to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and potentially others.
  • Coordinate with engineering and R&D to provide input into the EHS&S risk evaluations and Management of Change (MOC) for projects involving new or modified processes at all sites. Work with the project teams and external consultants to secure all required environmental permits for major projects (ex., Furnace Cold Repairs, Pollution Control System installations, New Production lines, etc.) and to communicate and assist the sites with other EHS&S regulatory requirements triggered by the projects.
  • Support the compliance activities of the plants through effective communication and review of environmental requirements with site/SBU management and/or outside agencies.
  • Coordinate the collection of EHS&S site data to report and communicate on regional progress toward the NSG group’s EHS&S objectives and to provide regional input to EHS&S reporting processes.
  • Lead recurring management reviews with SBU management, plant managers, and EHS managers to communicate progress with management system conformance and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with NSG Leadership Teams, Customer Support Representatives, and the Global sustainability function to respond to customer ESG surveys and requests in a timely manner and consistent with other Group External Reports.
  • Oversee the NA Corporate EHS staff who manage various areas of Regional EHS support including Sustainability Data Management, Contaminated Site Management, and Health and Safety Management.
  • Support facilities in reaching the sustainability goals of the company including (but not limited to): waste to landfill reduction, CO2 emissions reduction, water use reduction, etc.
  • Ability to comfortably interact with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies across different jurisdictions. Provide support to facilities participating in agency audits, requests for information, and corrective actions.
  • Positively influence members of the organization to continually improve the EHS&S culture.
  • Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Scope/Dimensions:

  • This position routinely interacts with NSG Group Engineering, R&D and Sustainability teams, along with Regional Legal Counsel, SBU Directors, Manufacturing and Functional Directors, Plant Managers, EHS Group Leaders, Automotive Program Managers and with external contacts such as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, external legal counsel, external services providers.

Qualifications Required:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, health & safety management, or equivalent curriculum.
  • At least 8 years of EHS&S compliance experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in OSHA regulations, Title V air permits, Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Waste (RCRA), Hazardous Material transportation (DOT), Department of Homeland Security (DHLS), Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS), and Green House Gas (GHG) / Carbon Emissions reduction.
  • Training and experience in Management System Standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, other).
  • Must be able to travel to all sites (50% of the time) with occasional global travel.
  • Excellent human relations, communications, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Ability to present information in a succinct manner, with expected audiences from production team members to the NSG Group CEO.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, health and safety, environmental science, or equivalent curriculum.
  • Qualified Lead/Internal Management Systems Auditor.
  • Direct experience with major air programs (Title V Permits, PSD, NSPS, NESHAP, RMP), health and safety management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Direct experience in dealing with regulatory agency inspections (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and data requests.
  • Experience responding to customer ESG / Sustainability reporting.
  • Experience in managing sustainability programs related to emissions reduction, water use, and waste reduction.

Other Requirements: 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Must be able to travel globally, including international flights to countries outside of North America as needed.

Salary Range: $154,510 - $193,145
