Position Overview

The BIM Coordinator supports the Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) by converting project BIM/Revit information into accurate, standardized, production-ready information for prefab manufacturing.

This role is not intended to function as a full BIM designer. The primary focus is supporting the BIM Leads assigned to each project by extracting quantities, producing cut sheets and fabrication details, standardizing model information, and helping convert project models into usable manufacturing data.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Project Controls Manager

Works Closely With:

  • Project/Site BIM Leads
  • AMF Production Management
  • Operations Management
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Material Management
  • Prefab Supervision and Quality Control

Project BIM Leads remain responsible for project-specific BIM design and coordination. The AMF BIM Coordinator supports those teams by translating model information into standardized manufacturing deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Revit models and BIM information received from project/site BIM teams.
  • Produce material quantity takeoffs for conduit, strut, fittings, supports, hardware, cable tray, and prefab assemblies.
  • Generate production-ready cut sheets for conduit, strut, threaded rod, supports, and other fabricated components.
  • Create simplified prefab assembly details showing dimensions, spacing, orientation, support locations, and material requirements.
  • Assist with standardizing Revit families, parameters, naming conventions, schedules, views, and AMF prefab information.
  • Maintain a library/database of standard prefab assemblies and fabrication details.
  • Identify repetitive assemblies that can be standardized across multiple projects.
  • Support production planning by providing quantities, dimensions, BOM information, and upcoming prefab requirements.
  • Track model revisions that may impact material already purchased or assemblies already released to production.
  • Coordinate model discrepancies or missing information with the appropriate project BIM Lead.
  • Work with production personnel to improve constructability and ensure BIM information is practical for manufacturing.
  • Support development of BIM-to-manufacturing workflows, including integration with STRATUS, material systems, production tracking, and automated fabrication equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows in electrical, MEP, construction, or fabrication.
  • Ability to navigate models, create views and schedules, and extract model information.
  • Understanding of electrical construction drawings and common electrical materials.
  • Ability to convert model information into practical fabrication drawings and cut information.
  • Strong Excel, data organization, and document-control skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies before information reaches production.

Preferred:

  • Electrical construction or prefab experience.
  • Experience with conduit, strut, supports, cable tray, and electrical assemblies.
  • Experience producing fabrication/spool drawings or Bills of Material.
  • Familiarity with STRATUS or similar BIM-to-fabrication platforms.
  • Experience in data-center, industrial, modular, or manufacturing environments.

Primary Objective

The BIM Coordinator serves as the connection between the project BIM teams and AMF production:

Model โ†’ Quantity โ†’ Cut Sheet โ†’ Assembly Detail โ†’ BOM โ†’ Production

The goal is to reduce manual measurement, improve material accuracy, standardize prefab information, reduce rework, and make project BIM data directly usable by the manufacturing operation.
