Technical Sales, Engineer I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and technically astute Engineer I, Technical Sales & Energy Analytics to work under the Manager of Technical Sales within the solar tracker/renewable energy market. This role focuses on leveraging software solutions, energy prediction modeling, and LCOE analysis to drive technical sales strategies across the Domestic United States. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in solar energy systems with software proficiency to deliver value-based solutions to clients and support the broader sales team's objectives.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Technical Analysis & Support:

  • Assist in developing and refining energy prediction models to forecast system performance and support customer ROI analyses.

  • Support LCOE and performance comparisons between Array solutions and alternative technologies.

  • Work with senior engineers and the Technical Sales Manager to translate customer requirements into technical inputs for internal teams.

Software & Technical Tools:

  • Use and maintain software tools (e.g., PVSyst, PlantPredict, internal tools) to support system design and performance modeling.

  • Assist in preparing technical inputs for proposals, system layouts, and energy production estimates.

  • Learn and support integration of technical software tools into the sales workflow in coordination with IT and software vendors.

Sales & Customer Support:

  • Support the Technical sales Manager and Director in developing technical content for key accounts and prospects.

  • Prepare technical documentation, charts, and presentations to communicate Array's system value proposition.

  • Participate in customer meetings and calls as a technical support resource.

Market & Competitive Intelligence:

  • Track industry trends in solar modeling tools, analytics, and LCOE benchmarking.

  • Assist in compiling competitive technology and performance benchmarking summaries.

  • Help prepare internal reports on technical market developments.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with sales, product engineering, and software teams to support proposal development.

  • Incorporate customer feedback into technical documentation and internal analyses.

  • Contribute to internal best practices for modeling, performance estimation, and proposal support.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel to customer sites, conferences and project locations (up to ~20 -30%).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, renewable energy, or related technical field.

  • 0-2 years of experience (internships, co-ops, research, or academic projects acceptable) experience in technical sales, energy analytics, or software implementation within the solar industry is a plus.

  • Familiarity with solar PV systems, trackers, and basic power system concepts is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office; Python or similar programming experience preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
