BAE Systems site in San Diego, CA is looking for a Safety Technician III for 1st shift. As a Safety Tech III, you will perform daily inspections, identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
As a Safety Tech III, you will:
  • Conduct daily inspections of work areas, including vessels, piers, and buildings
  • Document inspections and communicate safety findings to subcontractors and customers
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and customer requirements
  • Identify and correct potential hazards and infractions
  • Focus on areas such as life and safety codes, personal protective equipment, and fire prevention
  • Independently performs housekeeping walkthroughs and sends out daily reportss.
  • Leads incident investigations using in depth root cause analysis and meets with stakeholders to determine preventative action
  • Verify that discrepancies are promptly corrected
  • Facilitate collection of incident reports from those involved in incidents.

Required Skills and Education
  • Typically requires an Associates in a related discipline (i.e. safety, science, technical), or a high school diploma/GED and two (2) years experience, or the overall equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, management, customers, subcontractors and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience training groups of various sizes.
  • Ability to perform evaluation and testing in various environments including but not limited to noise, illumination, atmospheric conditions (confined spaces), and ensuring proper working environments are established and maintained.
  • Computer literate in standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and industry specific software.
  • Able to populate and maintain department databases, archive, write reports, maintain files, etc.
  • Must be capable of working in a variety of physically demanding environments and weather conditions including climbing, bending, crawling, working at heights, inside of enclosed and confined spaces, heat, rain, wind, etc.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to acquire and maintain a government access badge.
  • Ability to support on the 2nd Shift, 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Able to support overtime as needed to include weekends and holidays.
