Pioneer Freight is seeking an experienced and driven Transportation Safety Manager to lead and strengthen our company’s safety and compliance programs. This position is responsible for managing transportation safety, risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and training initiatives while helping support a safe, productive, and efficient operation. Position Summary
The Transportation Safety Manager is responsible for managing health and safety initiatives, injury prevention efforts, environmental and DOT compliance, and transportation safety programs. This role works closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure company activities are conducted safely, productively, and in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements.
The Safety Manager will also oversee operator training and development, conduct audits and inspections, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
- Enforce company health and safety policies and procedures across all departments
- Manage transportation safety programs and reduce operational risk
- Monitor driver qualification files, licensing, permits, and hiring compliance
- Ensure DOT drug and alcohol programs remain compliant with regulatory requirements
- Conduct DOT compliance audits and maintain safety documentation and OSHA logs
- Develop and conduct operator and driver safety training programs
- Evaluate operational policies and procedures from a risk management perspective
- Manage and maintain the company Emergency Action Plan
- Work closely with maintenance teams regarding preventative maintenance compliance
- Investigate safety concerns, identify trends, and implement corrective actions
- Test operator skillsets and ensure operational standards are consistently met
- Build strong working relationships with drivers, customers, vendors, and internal departments
- Communicate safety expectations, operational concerns, and compliance updates effectively to management and staff

Qualifications
- Knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations required
- Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or related industry preferred
- Strong understanding of transportation safety and compliance programs
- Ability to identify operational risks, trends, and improvement opportunities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- College degree preferred
