 Job Overview: The Construction Safety Trainer is responsible for delivering, and evaluating safety training programs that promote a safe and compliant work environment across construction projects. This role ensures employees, supervisors, and subcontractors understand and follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices. The trainer works closely with project management and field personnel to reduce workplace incidents through effective education and continuous improvement.

This position plays a key role in ensuring every employee has the knowledge and skills needed to work safely while supporting organizational compliance and a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks  -

  • Assist in creating and delivering engaging safety training programs for construction employees, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and ongoing safety education.
  • Train employees on OSHA standards, hazard recognition, fall protection, confined space entry, excavation safety, lockout-tagout procedures/policies, PPE, and other construction safety topics, equipment use/inspection, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, field observations, and employee feedback.
  • Assist in conducting jobsite safety inspections and audits.
  • Support incident investigations: providing photos, witness statements and assisting with controlling the incident environment.
  • Stay current on OSHA regulations, jobsite safety requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in coordinating third-party safety certifications and specialized training programs.
  • Assist in creating and updating training materials, presentations, manuals, and online learning content.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and employee engagement.
  • Travel to between local Reno office to jobsite as needed
  • Thorough understanding of construction hazards and risk mitigation.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to develop engaging training materials and lesson plans.
  • Excellent public speaking and facilitation abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement

Certifications

  • OSHA 30 (Construction)- Required
  • OSHA 500 Trainer Certification or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification- Preferred

Compensation:  Depends on position

Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience and skill level.   

Work environment:  

  • Office and active construction site environments.
  • Travel between local office and project location.
  • Able to work the following shifts based off project needs: day, evening, swing and/or weekend. Including Over time if needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in construction safety
  • Experience delivering classroom and hands-on safety training.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926).
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to overcome language barriers to ensure individual worker safety is in place
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences with varying experience levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Ability to walk active construction sites over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding when necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
