Position Description
Skills Required:
Expertise in the configuration and upgrading of Microsoft SQL Server versions 2016 and above; Proficient in the implementation and administration of Always On Availability Groups and High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions
for SQL Server 2016 and later; Competence in the deployment and management of Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instances, SQL Server on Amazon EC2, and AWS RDS for SQL Server; Competence in utilizing migration tools such as SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) and  Database Migration Assistant (DMA); Competence in cross platform conversions and migrations of Microsoft SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases between on premise data centers and Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP); Aptitude in configuring and maintaining monitoring with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) monitoring solutions; Skilled at executing comprehensive backup and recovery strategies; Proficient in employing automation and scripting technologies such as Microsoft PowerShell, for robust workflow automation; Competent with database security patching using Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), or Tanium; Dexterity in producing detailed architecture diagrams and procedure  documentation; Possesses effective  communication skills to collaborate with customers, project stakeholders, and vendors.   
 
Experience Required
  • Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in systems development, analysis, programming or testing.        
  • 10 years of experience performing Microsoft SQL Server installations, configurations, security, encryptions, patching, monitoring and administration;
  • 5 years of experience managing enterprise Microsoft SQL Server farms of 300+ servers;
  • 5 years of experience developing automation scripts in the administration of Microsoft SQL Server functions with tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell or similar tools;
  • 5 years of experience migrating and upgrading Microsoft SQL Server onto latest supported versions;
  • 3 years of experience of Microsoft SQL Server cloud migrations from on premise; 3 years of experience managing Azure SQL or SQL Managed Instances;
  • 5 years of experience architecting, configuring, and managing Microsoft SQL Server Always On Availability Groups (AG) and High Availability (HA) Disaster Recovery (DR) setups;
  • 5 years of experience performing SQL Server backups and recoveries with Commvault, SQL Server Management Studio or similar tools.
 
Education Required
  • This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field.
  • Cloud certifications such as Azure Fundamentals and above, AWS Cloud Practitioner and above, Microsoft Professional, or Professional Google Cloud.
