Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The RPG Developer 4 is a Subject Matter Expert in at least one system or application and able to answer any question that come from business partner. Provides analysis and design work in programming and create flow charts for technical and process analysis so that the project team can understand the data flow. Technically lead and mentor other developers to produce error-free development. Effectively communicate with business users, and suggest process improvements, configuration changes, day to day user activities, write pseudo technical documents for super users. Analyze issues with a quick and long term solution. Utilizes team work on quick solution while still validating the long term solution. Supports business applications through resolving trouble with applications, facilitating changes to applications through migrations, and supports other IT Organizations in providing support to the business community. Serves as a contributor and member to project teams in the applications area. Completes administration tasks, such as status reporting and documentation. Supports the business community in monitoring and enhancing the performance of business applications, including applications that are key components to the success of our business.
This is an onsite position, with our team located in Springfield, Missouri.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Design & Analysis. Will create flow charts for technical analysis so that the project team can understand the data flow. Participates in formal and informal code review and assist team members and works with the QA team to facilitate quality assurance efforts. Performs analysis and design for programs and learns and adapts to new applications, languages, and techniques. 50%
  • Development. Focused on supporting the development, maintenance, and support activities in keeping applications systems stable and functional in addition to increasing functionality for the user community. Serves as a contributor and member to project teams in the applications area. Completes administration tasks, such as status reporting and documentation. 20%
  • Lead Others. Technically lead and mentor other developers to produce error-free development. 10%
  • Provide Proactive Solutions. Utilizes team work on quick solution while still validating the long term solution. 10%
  • Business Process Discussions. Supports the business community in monitoring and enhancing the performance of business
  • Applications, including applications that are key components to the success of our business. 10%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: 4+ years

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
  • RPG 3, RPG IV, Free, ILE development experience preferred
  • Industry knowledge required: MFG
  • iSeries experience required
  • SQL experience required
  • DB2 database experience preferred
  • iSeries Townsend FTP and encryption experience preferred
  • XML experience preferred
  • Windows server experience preferred
  • Team leadership skills preferred
  • Strong analytical skills required
