Job description

IBMi/iSeries/AS400 RPG Developer

Duration: 6 Months

Location: ANOKA, MN

Required Criteria:

  • AS/400 - Experience >= One to Three Years
  • IBM iSeries - Experience >= One to Three Years
  • PSP Defined SCU in 258

Desired Criteria:

  • Local Grade = B2

IBMi/iSeries/AS400 RPG Developer Rate: DOE

Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for the most complex computer applications and/or application initiatives. Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. Works on the most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors. Plans, performs, and acts as the escalation point for the most complex platform designs, coding, and testing. Leads most complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts. Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process.

Analyze business requirements then design, create and maintain applications using SQLRPGLE on IBMi/iSeries/AS400 platform. Knowledge of Visual Explain and performance tools on IBMi/iSeries/AS400 platform. Knowledge and use of IBM Rational Developer for i (known as RDi source, debug, etc. tool). Knowledge of source control software (Aldon) on IBMi/iSeries/AS400 platform. Prepare detailed design specifications from which programs will be written, coded, tested, debugged and documented. Utilize technology to solve problems and provide software solutions with varying degrees of complexity. Work directly with department users to innovate and improve operations & processes. Drive to completion all phases of application development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional experience with application development - using RPG IV, ILE RPG, SQLRPGLE and CL on IBMi/iSeries/AS400 platform
  • 4+ years of extensive SQL knowledge, including writing scripts, functions and stored procedures
  • Microsoft SQL Server development /SSRS
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Microsoft.NET tools
  • Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and able to maintain focus on long-term projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within the company
  • Proven problem-solving and time management skills
  • Results-oriented; demonstrated sense of urgency and commitment to achieve efficient and accurate results.
  • Committed to the highest levels of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
