RPG Developer (AS400 / IBM i) – Fractional / Part-Time Consulting

Seeking a part-time RPG Developer to support a critical legacy quoting system. This is a long-term, low-hour consulting engagement @ 15-20 hours per month. This model is planned to be long term and ideal for candidates seeking part time work or has capacity for added workload per month.

Overview

  • Part-time consulting role (15–20 hours/month)
  • Ongoing, multi-year engagement
  • Remote-first (Pittsburgh area preferred, not required)

Scope of Work

  • Maintain and enhance a custom quoting/pricing system running on AS400
  • Perform RPG coding updates, fixes, and minor enhancements
  • Support a high-volume quoting environment tied to daily business operations
  • Troubleshoot issues and ensure system stability
  • Collaborate as needed on integrations or data flow with ERP

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with RPG (RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, or ILE RPG)
  • Hands-on experience with AS400 / IBM i (iSeries) environments
  • Experience supporting legacy business-critical applications
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
