Familiarity with technical tools such as IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi), DB2 databases, and source control systems is essential. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help developers collaborate with teams and address business requirements efficiently. These skills ensure robust, reliable software solutions and smooth operations in environments where legacy systems remain mission-critical.

What are AS400 RPG ILE developers?

AS400 RPG ILE developers are IT professionals who specialize in programming and maintaining applications on IBM's AS400 (now IBM i) systems, using the RPG (Report Program Generator) ILE (Integrated Language Environment) language. They work with legacy and modern business applications, developing, debugging, and enhancing software solutions for organizations relying on this platform. Their expertise ensures that critical business processes on AS400 systems run smoothly and efficiently.

What are some common challenges faced by AS400 RPG ILE developers when working on legacy systems?
