Job description

The Sonnenalp Hotel is a premier, family-owned luxury hotel known for personalized service and alpine charm, and we are seeking a Full-Time Year Round or Part-Time Seasonal Room Service Server who brings warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail to every guest interaction. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering seamless in-room dining experiences while upholding the high standards of the Sonnenalp Food & Beverage Team.

Primary Purpose of Position
The Room Service Server is responsible for preparing, delivering, and servicing all in-room dining orders in a prompt, accurate, and professional manner. This role requires excellent communication skills and a guest-first mindset, ensuring every interaction is warm, attentive, and helpful. From answering menu questions and taking orders to delivering meals and following up on guest needs, the Room Service Server plays a key role in creating a seamless and memorable in-room dining experience while consistently upholding the standards of the Sonnenalp Food & Beverage Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be thoroughly familiar with menus, ingredients and methods of preparation for each dish, wine list, as well as hours of operation for all food and beverage outlets.
  • Thorough knowledge of the room layout and the property in general. Knowledgeable about the resort and its amenities.
  • Collect orders from the kitchen, ensure they have been prepared correctly; and promptly and efficiently deliver to the guest's room.
  • Fulfill all functions as required by accounting; submit signed checks, reconcile daily sales etc.
  • Assist with the collection of room service trays and other food and beverage items from the guest rooms. Includes proper breakdown of trays and other items.
  • Familiar with room service order taker's duties, and fill that position when needed.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all standards of proper service etiquette and practice these standards throughout the guest's dining experience. Consistently deliver courteous, professional service.
  • Be aware of all liquor laws as well as company and departmental policies regarding consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Relay guest complaints or comments to supervisor.
  • Attend all staff meetings and supplemental training sessions. Attend pre-meal meetings and be aware of daily soup, specials and their method of preparation.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and organized at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly; report any problems to the Room Service Captain or Manager immediately.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that enables getting along with guests, vendors, co-workers, and management.
  • Responsible for set-up, delivery and presentation of VIP and other guest amenities
  • Take guests' order through the phone according to LHW standards
  • Keep the room service staging area clean and organized
  • Keep room service department stocked
  • Follow up with guest issues
  • Must have complete knowledge of service time, menu, and specials.
  • Close an operating day and prepare for the following
  • Must follow proper departmental SOPs as far as fulfilling room service orders
  • Adhere to all LHW standards
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Food and Beverage or Room Service Manager

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience serving preferred

Special Skills/Equipment
  • Must be extremely organized; able to expedite multiple orders completely and correctly.
  • Work well with food and beverage teammates and support departments.
  • Good communication essential. Must be able to communicate in English fluently.
  • Must be motivated and a self-starter.
  • Friendly, warm, and enthusiastic personality required
  • Fluent English and some Spanish helpful
  • Wine and food knowledge preferred
  • Squirrel POS system knowledge helpful
  • Previous room service or restaurant server experience in a luxury property preferred
