Room Service Attendant  

JOB DESCRIPTION 

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage / In-Room Dining  

REPORTS TO:   Food & Beverage Director / Food & Beverage Supervisor/ Food & Beverage Manager 

STATUS: Non-Exempt  

JOB SUMMARY 

The Room Service Attendant is responsible for delivering food and beverage orders to guest rooms in a timely, professional, and courteous manner in accordance with hotel brand standards. This role ensures accurate order delivery, proper setup, and a high level of guest satisfaction while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and service quality. The Room Service Attendant represents the hotel’s commitment to exceptional hospitality and personalized guest service. This is a seasonal position starting mid May and ending mid September. 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

Education & Experience:   

  • Prior food and beverage, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 

  • Knowledge of food service procedures and guest service standards preferred 

  • Alcohol service certification required where applicable (TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol, or state-approved equivalent) 

  • Ability to operate point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred 

Physical requirements:  

  • Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays 

  • Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time 

  • Ability to push, pull, and maneuver service carts 

  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions throughout shift 

General Requirements  

  • Maintain a warm, professional, and service-oriented demeanor at all times 

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with guests, coworkers, and management 

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and guest service skills 

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment 

  • Attend all required hotel meetings and training sessions 

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel scheduling requirements 

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag 

  • Comply with all hotel policies, brand standards, and safety regulations 

  • Maintain confidentiality of guest and hotel information 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management 

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS 

Fundamental Requirements: 

  • Take, prepare, and deliver room service orders accurately and promptly 

  • Set up in-room dining service according to hotel presentation standards 

  • Ensure food quality, temperature, and presentation meet brand expectations 

  • Verify guest identity and room number prior to order delivery 

  • Ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with local and state regulations 

  • Process guest payments accurately using POS systems as required 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of room service areas, carts, and equipment 

  • Retrieve trays and carts from guest rooms in a timely manner 

  • Communicate guest requests, concerns, or service issues to management promptly 

  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures 

  • Assist with stocking supplies and opening/closing duties as assigned 

  • Support restaurant, banquet, or other food and beverage operations as business levels require 

Work Schedule & Availability 
 

Hospitality is a 24-hour operation. Associates may be required to work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs and hotel occupancy levels. Schedules, staffing levels, and assigned duties may fluctuate to meet business demands, special events, and guest service requirements. 

In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature  (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten (10) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities.  This position pays $7.50/hr plus tips dependent on experience.
