What does a roofing sales rep do?

A roofing sales representative is responsible for finding potential customers, assessing their roofing needs, and selling roofing services or products. They often inspect roofs, provide cost estimates, and explain the benefits of different roofing solutions. Additionally, they may coordinate with installation teams, handle customer inquiries, and follow up after the job is completed to ensure customer satisfaction. Their main goal is to generate sales while building strong customer relationships.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a roofing sales rep?

To thrive as a Roofing Sales Rep, you need strong sales acumen, knowledge of roofing products and installation processes, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, estimating tools, and digital presentation platforms is commonly required. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help differentiate top performers in this field. These skills are crucial for effectively identifying client needs, closing sales, and building lasting customer relationships in a competitive industry.

What are common challenges roofing sales reps face during the sales process, and how can they overcome them?

Roofing Sales Reps often encounter challenges such as building trust with homeowners, dealing with competition, and navigating insurance claims. Establishing credibility by being knowledgeable about roofing products, providing transparent estimates, and maintaining clear communication can help overcome homeowner skepticism. Additionally, staying informed about insurance processes and local regulations enables reps to guide clients more effectively, giving them a competitive edge. Consistent follow-up and strong relationship-building skills are key to closing sales in this field.

Job description

We are looking for a driven, self-motivated Roofing Sales Representative to join our team. In this field-based role, you will be the face of our company, meeting directly with property owners, identifying their roofing needs, and helping them protect their biggest investment. Whether you are generating leads in local neighborhoods or guiding a homeowner through a project estimate, this role offers exceptional earning potential and a clear path to sales leadership. This is a commission only role.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct Inspections: Safely climb ladders and walk roofs to assess damage and determine the need for repair or full replacement.
  • Educate & Sell: Clearly demonstrate the value of our roofing materials, warranties, and services to homeowners.
  • Generate Leads: Actively hunt for new business through neighborhood canvassing, networking, and asking for referrals.
  • Manage the Pipeline: Follow up promptly with prospects, provide accurate estimates, and close contracts to drive revenue.
  • Deliver Excellence: Maintain strong relationships with clients from the initial inspection through project completion to ensure repeat business and 5-star reviews.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Entry-level sales or lead generation experience (previous roofing, home improvement, or door-to-door sales experience is a massive plus, but we will train the right person).
  • Requirements: A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical Ability: Must be completely comfortable carrying ladders, climbing onto roofs, and working outdoors.
  • Skills: Strong communication, highly organized, and the ability to confidently present to homeowners.
