Roofing Installers are skilled tradespeople who specialize in installing, repairing, and replacing roofs on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Their work involves working with materials such as shingles, metal, tile, and membrane roofing systems to ensure buildings are properly protected from weather and environmental damage. Roofing Installers measure and prepare roof surfaces, remove old materials, install new roofing, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards. They often work at heights and must follow strict safety procedures. This job requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and knowledge of various roofing techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a roofing installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Roofing Installer, you need strong physical stamina, basic carpentry skills, and familiarity with construction safety practices, often acquired through on-the-job training or apprenticeships. Experience with roofing tools, harness systems, and materials like shingles or metal panels is essential, and OSHA safety certification is commonly required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and reliability are vital soft skills for quality workmanship and meeting project deadlines. These competencies ensure safe, durable roof installations that protect buildings and satisfy client expectations.

What are some common challenges roofing installers face on the job, and how can they be managed?

Roofing Installers often encounter challenges such as working in varying weather conditions, maintaining safety at heights, and handling physically demanding tasks. Adhering to strict safety protocols, using proper personal protective equipment, and staying informed about weather forecasts can help mitigate risks. Additionally, teamwork and clear communication with crew members are essential for ensuring efficiency and job site safety. Many companies also provide ongoing safety training and support to help installers adapt and grow in their roles.

Where do roofing installers make the most money?

Roofing installers tend to earn higher wages in regions with a high cost of living and strong construction demand, such as urban areas or states with active building markets. Experience, certifications, and specialized skills can also lead to higher pay within the profession.

Job description

About Liberty Roofing Pros LLC
Liberty Roofing Pros is a locally owned roofing and exterior services company serving Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and Northwestern West Virginia. Since 2017, we've built our reputation on quality workmanship, honest communication, and reliable service.
We specialize in residential and commercial roofing, gutter installation, siding, and storm damage solutions. Our team is committed to protecting our customers' homes and businesses while delivering a professional, straightforward experience from start to finish.
At Liberty Roofing Pros, we value integrity, accountability, and people who take pride in their work. We're growing and looking for motivated individuals who want to grow with us.
About the role
  • As a Lead Roofing Installer (Crew Lead) at Liberty Roofing Pros, you'll run a roofing crew in the field - leading installs from start to finish, keeping the jobsite safe, training newer installers, and making sure every roof meets our quality standard. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll be on the roof with your crew, not just supervising from the ground. Your work will directly impact the safety, durability, and reputation we've built since 2017.

What you'll do
  • Work closely with team members to ensure quality workmanship on every job
  • Participate in ongoing training to improve skills and stay current on best practices
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site at all times
  • Lead a crew to install asphalt shingle and metal roof systems safely and to spec
  • Plan the job, assign and pace work, and keep production on schedule and within budget
  • Train, coach, and give feedback to crew members and uphold our workmanship standard

Qualifications
  • Experience in roofing, construction, or a related trade preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Customer-focused communication skills
  • Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship
  • 5+ years of hands-on roofing experience (residential and/or commercial)
  • Prior experience leading or supervising a roofing or construction crew
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; OSHA 10/30 and manufacturer certifications a plus

Benefits
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with company match

The pay range for this role is:
40 - 55 USD per hour (Fredonia Office )
