What is a roofing installer?

Roofing Installers are skilled tradespeople who specialize in installing, repairing, and replacing roofs on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Their work involves working with materials such as shingles, metal, tile, and membrane roofing systems to ensure buildings are properly protected from weather and environmental damage. Roofing Installers measure and prepare roof surfaces, remove old materials, install new roofing, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards. They often work at heights and must follow strict safety procedures. This job requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and knowledge of various roofing techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a roofing installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Roofing Installer, you need strong physical stamina, basic carpentry skills, and familiarity with construction safety practices, often acquired through on-the-job training or apprenticeships. Experience with roofing tools, harness systems, and materials like shingles or metal panels is essential, and OSHA safety certification is commonly required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and reliability are vital soft skills for quality workmanship and meeting project deadlines. These competencies ensure safe, durable roof installations that protect buildings and satisfy client expectations.

What are some common challenges roofing installers face on the job, and how can they be managed?

Roofing Installers often encounter challenges such as working in varying weather conditions, maintaining safety at heights, and handling physically demanding tasks. Adhering to strict safety protocols, using proper personal protective equipment, and staying informed about weather forecasts can help mitigate risks. Additionally, teamwork and clear communication with crew members are essential for ensuring efficiency and job site safety. Many companies also provide ongoing safety training and support to help installers adapt and grow in their roles.

Where do roofing installers make the most money?

Roofing installers tend to earn higher wages in regions with a high cost of living and strong construction demand, such as urban areas or states with active building markets. Experience, certifications, and specialized skills can also lead to higher pay within the profession.

Job description

Must be on Oahu

Build Something You Can Be Proud Of

Looking for steady, hands-on work where you can see the results of what you accomplish every day?

We’re looking for a dependable Roofing Installer to join our crew on Oahu. Whether you already have roofing or construction experience or you're ready to build your skills in the trade, we want people who show up, work safely, support their crew, and take pride in doing quality work.

If you like working outdoors, staying active, and being part of a team that gets things done, this could be a great fit.

What You’ll Do

As a Roofing Installer, you’ll work alongside your crew on a variety of roofing projects throughout Oahu. Your day may include:

  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofing systems
  • Removing old roofing materials and preparing surfaces for installation
  • Loading, moving, and organizing roofing materials, tools, and equipment
  • Assisting with insulation, underlayment, vapor barriers, and other roofing components
  • Safely operating roofing tools and equipment
  • Following job-site safety procedures and wearing required PPE
  • Keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Working with your crew to keep projects moving and meet deadlines
  • Communicating with your team about assignments, progress, and job-site needs

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You

  • Show up. You’re dependable, punctual, and ready to work.
  • Take pride in your work. You care about doing the job correctly, not just getting it done.
  • Work well with a crew. You follow direction, communicate, and do your part.
  • Put safety first. You stay aware of your surroundings and follow safety requirements.
  • Like hands-on work. You enjoy being active and seeing tangible results at the end of the day.
  • Want to get better. You’re willing to learn, take feedback, and build your skills over time.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Roofing or construction experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Comfortable working outdoors in Hawaii’s heat, rain, and wind
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability and willingness to consistently follow safety procedures and PPE requirements

What Success Looks Like

You’re someone your crew can count on.

You arrive on time and prepared. You work safely, follow direction, and pay attention to the details. You take care of the tools, materials, and job site around you. As you gain experience, you continue improving your skills and becoming a stronger member of the crew.

Most importantly, you take pride in looking back at a completed roof and knowing you helped build something that will last.

Why Join Us?

We believe good work starts with good people.

You’ll join a hardworking team that values safety, quality, reliability, and teamwork. We’re looking for people who want steady work, enjoy working with their hands, and want the opportunity to grow their skills in the roofing trade.

Ready to get to work? Apply today.
