Job description

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable Patient Bed Technician to work full time for SJS Executives supporting ongoing operations at a local Veteranโ€™s Affairs Hospital in Long Beach, CA.


SJS Executives is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; we specialize in professional services to support federal and military organizations.


The pay for this position will be $28/hr and comes with 56hrs of accumulated sick time. This also comes with 11 paid federal holidays, and offer Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD, STD, Accident and critical illness.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and on-demand repairs on patient beds, lifts, and related support equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on beds such as Hill-Rom (Advanta 2, VersaCare, 100 Low Bed), Stryker (Procuity series), and other patient support systems.
  • Inspect, test, and service ceiling-mounted and portable patient lifts (e.g., Hill-Rom, Guldmann) to ensure safe operation.
  • Diagnose issues related to bed controls, actuators, siderails, braking systems, and integrated electronics.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with clinical staff and COR to ensure minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Complete detailed maintenance and repair documentation, including parts, labor, and equipment identifiers.
  • Ensure all PM activities are completed within scheduled timeframes and meet compliance standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all serviced equipment meets operational safety requirements before returning to service.

Qualifications:

  • In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing maintenance or repair on patient beds, lifts, or similar mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in hospital bed platforms.
  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance in a healthcare or similar regulated environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as:
    • Hill-Rom beds (Advanta 2, VersaCare, P3200, P3930)
    • Stryker beds (1125, Procuity ZMX, Procuity ZX)
    • Patient lift systems (Guldmann, Hill-Rom)
  • Technical training in biomedical equipment, electronics, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Must satisfy all additional federal, VA, and facility-specific credentialing requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
