Job Description
The CES ROC Operator position is responsible for safely operation and monitoring of photovoltaic solar power and Battery Storage plants located around the United States. The ROC Operations works on a Dupont shift rotation. This position will be for BESS primarily that involves schedule is 7 days on 7 days off rotation of 12 hr. on nights. This schedule will require you to work weekends and holidays. Additionally, this will transition into a Dupont schedule in Q1 2026. ROC Operator main duties include fault evaluation, alarm monitoring and troubleshooting, work order ticket creation, and support of field teams and remote commissioning testing of new Solar and Battery assets. Specific knowledge or work experience relating to Solar and BESS operations is not required but preferred.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข The ROC Operator is responsible for directing, monitoring and coordinating the operation of CES Solar, BESS, and wind assets from the 24/7 Operations Control Center
โ€ข The ROC Operator ensures that operations comply with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards and practices for Medium Impact Assets
โ€ข The ROC Operator will need to work independently with guidance only in complex situations
โ€ข Monitor real-time control center operations and the performance of CES's fleet of managed assets while applying established procedures in order to guarantee safety of company assets and personnel while maximizing availability and generation
โ€ข Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements through adherence to all operational procedures, processes, and policies
โ€ข Report and document the status of forced and planned plant outages to Regional Transmission Organization / Independent System Operators (RTO/ISO)
โ€ข Evaluate system alarms and irregularities, taking corrective action as outlined in established guidelines while Ensuring quality and accuracy of real-time generation information being telemetered to RTO/ISO
โ€ข Dispatch field and emergency service personnel when appropriate
โ€ข Remotely direct electrical substation switching at facilities using a detailed understanding of the Company's electrical switching practices
โ€ข Assist Field Service Technicians with troubleshooting on a daily basis
โ€ข Record operating actions taken during shifts in the operator's log
โ€ข Utilize accurate and efficient three-part communication skills on inbound and outbound telephone conversations
โ€ข Complete ROC Operator qualification process/training.
โ€ข Complete applicable safety and regulatory/compliance training requirements
โ€ข Identify process improvements; include reduction of non-value-added operations, increased productivity opportunities, increased safety opportunities, etc.
โ€ข Adhere to cybersecurity protocols and best practices when using SCADA systems, remote access tools, and communication platforms to protect CES assets and data from unauthorized access.
โ€ข Maintain vigilance against phishing, malware, and other online threats by following CES safe online practices, promptly reporting suspicious activity, and completing required cybersecurity training
โ€ข Additional duties as required
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
โ€ข Associate's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent time in service in related solar and BESS, from a control room setting preferred.
โ€ข Strong understanding of electrical utility systems.
โ€ข Ability to use multiple SCADA software applications
โ€ข Excellent organizational and time management skills
โ€ข Compensation range will be determined by years of experience in power system operations, power production, or related energy operations
โ€ข Ability to obtain Certifications (such as those required by NERC, RTOs, and ISOs) as needed and at CES' expense.
โ€ข Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software
โ€ข Strong interpersonal skills
โ€ข High attention to detail
โ€ข Strong analytical and quantitative skills
โ€ข Strong written and oral communication skills
โ€ข Ability to be self-motivated
โ€ข Ability to perform job tasks in a collaborative working environment
โ€ข Availability and willingness to work a rotating Dupont schedule as assigned
โ€ข Ability to work on weekends and holidays depending on shift schedule.
โ€ข Willingness to cover extra shifts on occasion based on illness or absence of other operators. Extra shifts will typically result in significant overtime pay depending on work schedule.
