Responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
Provide direct quantitative supporting analytics to our trading team in multiple markets (ERCOT, CAISO, AESO).
Key Accountabilities
  • Support the trading team through direct quantitative analysis, both recurring and ad hoc, across multiple time horizons and markets where the front office maintains active trading positions.
  • Develop and evaluate trading and hedging strategies to improve profitability and optimize P&L capture.
  • Perform retrospective analyses to identify the most profitable trading strategies and support resource allocation decisions.
  • Maintain and enhance P&L reporting and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking to improve trading effectiveness and decision-making.
  • Develop a strong understanding of market fundamentals and operational drivers that influence trading outcomes and risk-reward decisions.
  • Support other Energy Management activities as needed, including collaboration with the Real-Time Operations team and other cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in quantitative analytics within the energy industry or a related field.
  • Experience working with large and complex data sets and transforming analysis into actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing quantitative models using Microsoft Excel or similar analytical tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and effectively to trading and business stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in energy markets, preferably renewable energy, is preferred.
  • Understanding of power market operations and trading fundamentals is preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial and quantitative modeling.
  • Strong data analysis and data management capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and identify meaningful trends and insights.
  • Experience developing automated analytical processes and reporting tools preferred.
  • Working knowledge of North American power markets, including ERCOT, CAISO, and/or AESO, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.

The expected starting pay range for this role is $80,000 - $108,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern's compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
