Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SCADA Engineer to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems supporting data center operations as well as Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This position requires strong technical acumen and advanced problem-solving abilities to ensure optimal system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop SCADA systems to monitor and control Electrical and Mechanical equipment in data centers and other mission critical facilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement solutions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SCADA systems, including hardware and software components

  • Conduct system testing, validation, and performance tuning to ensure optimal functionality

  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, changes, and updates

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on SCADA operations

  • Maintain data connections between Remote Operations Center, corporate data servers and OEM SCADA, RTU, OPC Servers, etc.

  • Coordinate with IT (internal and 3rd party) as primary point of contact for plant operations

  • Provide NERC CIP guidance and support to ensure all assets are in compliance

Basic Qualifications for Senior Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • Five (5) years or more of relevant engineering experience and state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) OR 6 years related work experience without state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Must be able and willing to travel to various locations to support area manager's various sites on a frequent basis (Up to 10% Travel)

  • Must be able to respond to SCADA, Command Center & Plant Support outside normal working hours (24/7 on-call team rotation)

Basic Qualifications for Lead Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with five (5) years or more of relevant experience with one (1) year or more of direct reports

  • Five (5) years or more of relevant engineering experience and state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) OR 6 years related work experience without state registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Must be able and willing to travel to various locations to support area manager's various sites on a frequent basis (Up to 10% Travel)

  • Must be able to respond to SCADA, Command Center & Plant Support outside normal working hours (24/7 on-call team rotation)

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • Experience with OT Equipment such as SCADA systems, RTU's, PI data historians, etc. Ignition or VTScada

  • Experience with networking concepts, infrastructure (TCP/IP, ports, basic troubleshooting)

  • Experience with Building Automation or Control Systems

  • Knowledge of basic components/operations of power plants, with firsthand experience on renewable projects

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Experience working with industry leading SCADA systems

  • Experience with SEL RTAC, Relays, RTU, PLC and HMIs

  • Networking skills and experience with standard communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, Serial & DNP

  • Programming skills in Structured Text, Ladder Logic for automation tasks and scripting

Working Conditions

  • Remote work is optional for highly qualified candidates

  • Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Deriva Energy facility

  • Must be able and willing to travel to various locations to support area manager's various sites

  • Must be able to respond to O&M Support outside normal working hours (Team on-call rotation)

  • Travel up to 10%

  • Valid driver's license

  • Must be able to lift up to and carry up to 25lbs

  • The hiring manager may elect to fill this position at the higher-level dependent upon skills and experience
