Your contribution!

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Hydroelectric Operator works in a team environment with a multi-skilled crew and is responsible for operating and maintaining run-of-river hydroelectric facilities in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Your day-to-day!

  • Operate hydroelectric power plants by conducting and documenting regular monitoring and maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve alarms to minimize downtime (including on-call availability)

  • Assist with the implementation, monitoring and management of preventive maintenance programs, including electrical and mechanical testing and repairs

  • Communicate and coordinate with the 24/7 remote operations center

  • Interface with external consultants and suppliers

  • Support maintenance planning activities and budget adherence

  • Contribute to capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and requirements

  • Apply and uphold corporate health and safety policies

  • Participate in the implementation of loss prevention programs

  • Assist specialized contractors during maintenance and repair activities

  • Support process optimization and propose improvement initiatives

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Journeyman certification (Millwright or Electrician) or equivalent experience in mechanical/electrical field
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to apply practical work methods and actively participate in operational and maintenance activities
  • Strong adaptability in a multidisciplinary environment (engineering, operations, maintenance, projects)
  • Openness to new technologies and continuous improvement approaches
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge sharing mindset
  • Autonomous, proactive and solution-oriented approach
  • Strong safety mindset with solid understanding of electrical, mechanical and general safety standards
  • Experience with hydroelectric operations, PLCs, communication systems and high-voltage substations (asset)
  • Familiarity with turbine systems, governors and hydraulic power units (asset)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and hydraulic/pneumatic drawings
  • Hands-on, self-starter profile
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (asset)

  • The position is based at the company's Curtis Palmer site in Corinth, NY.
  • This position is an O3 level

Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.

 To support pay transparency, the hiring range for this position is between $34 and $39 per hour, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.

 Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
