Job Summary

The Robotic Welding Sales Engineer is a technical expert role within the robotics division. The role provides specialized welding and robotic application support to evaluate opportunities, conduct demonstrations, assist in customer discussions, and help close robotic welding automation deals. This is a long-term career position with significant investment in training and development. The position is reactive/consultative, partnering with regional salespeople rather than performing cold outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical expert on welding and robotic applications, evaluating opportunities generated by regional salespeople.
  • Review weld prints, weld details, parts, production requirements, and feasibility
  • Support customer discussions, join Teams calls, conduct site visits, and perform product demonstrations in the showroom.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Robotic Welding Sales Engineer and regional teams to develop technically sound robotic welding solutions.
  • Help qualify automation projects, coordinate demonstrations, and move qualified opportunities toward closure.
  • Learn and operate robotic equipment for effective customer demonstrations.
  • Provide application support, including assessing manufacturing processes, labor challenges, quality requirements, and throughput objectives.
  • Transition smoothly from sales support to post-sale project execution.
  • Travel for customer meetings, demonstrations, and training

Requirements

  • Strong welding knowledge and the ability to speak confidently using welding terminology and shop-floor language.
  • Experience interpreting weld prints and weld details.
  • Hands-on or close exposure to MIG or TIG welding
  • Ability to travel ~33% on average (up to 50%+ during initial 3-4 month training period), covering territories including Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania or the Indianapolis area.
  • Strong soft skills for customer-facing technical sales support.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn robot programming and automation systems.

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior robotics knowledge or experience
  • Sales experience or customer-facing technical support background.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing processes
  • Engineering background.
  • CAD or SolidWorks familiarity.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
  • 3–5+ years of relevant technical experience in welding/automation environments.

Compensation/Benefits

  • Competitive base salary $100K-$120K with commission structure (more salary-focused initially than pure sales engineer roles, with increasing commission potential over time) OTE - $300K-$400K
