As a reflection of our current needs and planned growth we are very pleased to offer an opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Accounting team as Manager, Revenue Accounting.
The Manager of Revenue Accounting will serve as a key contributor within the accounting organization, supporting the end-to-end revenue recognition and other patient accounting processes for Aspen Dental. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting net revenue recognition policies and accuracy, day to day. The Manager will help execute revenue accounting operations, support internal controls, auditing/validation, and serve as a working-level point of contact between Revenue Cycle Management, IT/Product, FP&A, Analytics, and external auditors, escalating to the Director as needed. The position requires an individual who has a proficient understanding of revenue recognition in accordance with company and accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, CECL/ASC 310). The Manager must be data-driven and be able to clearly articulate the methods applied to leadership, operations, and doctors. This position has flexibility with work location and may require travel for onboarding and other needs.
Responsibilities
  • Support and help enforce accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP for revenue recognition and patient accounting processes, escalating gaps or improvement opportunities to the Director
  • Build and maintain allowance models segmented by payor class, aging, etc. Ensure models are reconciled to the financials monthly
  • Maintain collection waterfall models that tracks charges>contractual adjustments>expected collections>write offs and perform variance analysis to reported financials
  • Build dashboards and trend reporting to monitor and corroborate models and reported financials and identify changes proactively
  • Maintain models, analysis, and accuracy of other patient accounting processes such as product warranties, product guaranties, deposits, and healthcare financing fees
  • Support revenue and patient accounting mapping between practice management systems, data warehouses, and the general ledger, ensuring alignment with business and reporting requirements
  • Prepare and review standard and non-standard journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness on revenue/Net AR and other patient accounting processes
  • Prepare and review balance sheet and P&L reconciliations to financials monthly, escalating variances to the Director
  • Maintain working relationships with Revenue Cycle Management, IT/Product, and FP&A/Analytics teams to support revenue analytics, best practices, and system improvements
  • Support the model, analysis, and accuracy of other patient accounting processes such as product warranties, product guaranties, deposits, and healthcare financing fees
  • Illustrate models and accounting methods and present to the business as required (operations, doctors, etc.)
  • Support the Director as a point of contact for external auditors, helping manage audit requests and preparing audit-ready documentation

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Experience within the healthcare or dental industry
  • Experience with fee schedules, UCR rates, and how contractual rates flow into contractual and discretionary adjustments
  • Experience with practice management systems and revenue cycle management processes
  • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a healthcare or dental revenue cycle environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; ability to leverage data tools and technology to drive process improvements
  • Proficiency with tools such as Power BI, Looker, Tableau, and SQL/databases
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, manage projects and competing priorities, and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience
  • CPA preferred, as role will support interactions with external auditors
  • Prior experience at a Big 4 or regional firm with healthcare clients is a differentiator

Salary: 93-120k, plus bonus incentives with a generous benefits package that includes paid time off, health, dental, vision, and 401(k) savings plan with match
