Job description


The Retirement Plan Manager's primary role is to serve as the relationship manager for a diverse group of clients. This position requires a broad and deep understanding of sophisticated investment management practices and the administrative needs of 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, defined benefit plans, and other types of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. The Retirement Plan Manager actively participates in the sales process for prospective clients and in the retention of existing clients. This includes assisting in the preparation of proposals for new clients and leading presentations to new and existing clients. The ideal candidate will work in conjunction with wealth advisors across our footprint to attract and onboard new business, while operating in a semi-autonomous and entrepreneurial environment to maintain a sales and client-centered focus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Serve as primary relationship manager for company-sponsored retirement plans across our footprint and lead the onboarding of new clients.
โ€ข Responsible for team initiatives, including participation in prospect and client meetings and responding to client inquiries as appropriate.
โ€ข Responsible for leading client meetings and preparation of materials for investment reviews, plan reviews, and participant education/enrollment meetings.
โ€ข Meet with clients on a quarterly basis, or as needed, to review investment manager and portfolio performance and present appropriate recommendations.
โ€ข Prepare and present sales materials to prospective clients.
โ€ข Ability to discuss investment performance, economic, and financial market trends with clients and prospects.
โ€ข Assist in coordinating retirement plan service provider search, selection and monitoring, including recordkeepers, investment fund managers and third-party administrators as necessary.
โ€ข Manage retirement plan lineups, including the monitoring of existing client investment lineups and designing investment lineups for new plans in conjunction with our investment team as well as independently.
โ€ข Develop leads and referrals from current clients, outside contacts and internal bank partners; solicit requests for proposal where appropriate.
โ€ข Maintain internal contact management database and monitor the frequency of client and prospect contact
โ€ข Foster open communication with other Bank departments and meet with internal bank partners to educate them on our institutional investment offerings.
โ€ข Provide strategic input to the Wealth Management department and management as necessary.
Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree required
โ€ข Minimum of five (5) years of investment and portfolio management experience required
โ€ข Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the retirement plan space or working directly with 401(k) plan sponsors required
โ€ข Demonstrated experience in effective account/relationship management required
โ€ข Professional designation is highly encouraged (i.e., advanced degree, CPA, CFP, QKA, QFPC, CRSP)
โ€ข Strong, successful track record that consistently meets or exceeds goals
โ€ข Ability to foster teamwork and motivate colleagues required
โ€ข Client-centered focus with excellent strategic thinking ability and consultative skills
โ€ข Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
โ€ข Enthusiastic, positive energy demeanor

Our Total Rewards PackageIn Washington, DC the expected base pay salary range for this role is $111,709 - $195,491, placement within the range will be determined on an individualized basis commensurate with experience and skills and is only one part of the total compensation package. Your base salary may be subject to an annual merit increase based upon performance and, depending on the position, may be eligible for cash bonuses, long-term incentives, commissions, and other United Bank sponsored benefit programs.
