The Strategic Retirement Plan Advisor guides individuals in an employer-sponsored retirement plan toward long-term financial success by delivering personalized advice across all aspects of their financial lives. Leveraging data-driven insights and Empower's proprietary tools, the advisor conducts comprehensive financial assessments, develops tailored investment and retirement strategies, and helps participants take confident, informed action. This role supports both in-person and virtual consultations across an assigned territory-geographic and/or client-based-while meeting client service expectations and business objectives.
What you will do
  • Conduct in-depth advice conversations to assess participants' overall financial health, including retirement readiness, investment management, household financial planning, and general financial wellness
  • Utilize proprietary financial planning software to deliver detailed investment reviews and objective recommendations tailored to participant goals and risk tolerance
  • Customize and implement actionable financial plans using analytical tools to identify needs and follow up to promote long-term financial behavior change
  • Lead one-on-one consultations and group education sessions, both virtual and in-person, covering topics such as retirement planning, investing fundamentals, and financial wellness best practices
  • Document participant interactions, advice, and recommendations in Salesforce; ensure compliance and consistent follow-up strategies
  • Achieve measurable outcomes by meeting or exceeding service level agreements (SLAs), client expectations, and annual performance goals
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships internally (e.g., Client Relationship Managers, Customer Care, Communications, and Marketing teams) and externally (e.g., HR and benefits coordinators within employer groups)
  • Collaborate with Empower Personal Wealth to refer participants whose needs align with Empower's wealth management solutions

What you will bring
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant financial services experience
  • FINRA Series 6, 63 and 65 registrations required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to work independently and manage a personal book of business
  • Deep understanding of defined contribution plans, financial planning principles, and investment management topics
  • Ability to travel to client sites as necessary (up to 50%)
  • FINRA Fingerprinting required upon hire

What will set you apart
  • Experience in sales and/or wealth management preferred
  • Proficiency with investment planning tools and financial wellness platforms
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems

Base Salary Range
$87,400.00 - $123,400.00
The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
