Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Pre-Op Registered Nurse (Part Time-Days)

The Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (Pre-Op RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients prior to surgical or procedural interventions. The Pre-Op RN performs patient assessments, prepares patients for surgery, collaborates with the surgical and anesthesia teams, and ensures patients are medically and emotionally prepared for procedures while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive preoperative patient assessments, including medical history, medication review, allergies, and vital signs
  • Verify surgical consent forms, physician orders, and required documentation
  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgical procedures
  • Initiate IV access and administer medications as ordered
  • Ensure completion of required preoperative testing and laboratory results
  • Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, postoperative expectations, and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Monitor patient condition and report changes to appropriate providers
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Assist with patient transport and positioning as needed
  • Support efficient patient flow and surgical schedule coordination
