JOB SUMMARY

Our client, an established grower/shipper/processor, is seeking a Retail Business Development Manager with ‘value-add' sales experience to facilitate retail opportunities on the east coast. This position reports to the Director of Regional Sales as it pertains to the day-to-day sales, merchandising, new business development, and new product introductions.

Position is remote with travel. Strong preference for the role to be based in the Northeast.

The Retail Business Development Manager is also responsible for account retention and other sales and marketing strategies throughout the assigned market territories. This position includes but is not limited to day-to-day activities that are focused upon developing new customers and maintaining existing relationships as well as, extending opportunities with existing customers. This position oversees and is accountable for the business development and sales operation in the assigned regions that may be required from time-to-time depending on sales opportunities and may direct your efforts ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, and managing operating costs and shrinkage.

This position is also responsible for selecting, managing, directing and evaluating any distributors with a special emphasis on retail merchandising programs. Also, this position is responsible for building revenue, through collaboratively developing and implementing market strategies, and through the preparation of proposals, including creative, innovative, novel, and unique concepts and approaches.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and direct efforts in Business Development resulting in bringing in new business and accounts.
  • Support existing clients in new/additional requirements and expand their sales with existing and new products
  • Implement sales and marketing strategy in collaboration with the VP National Sales and the sales organization to ensure the achievement of financial targets
  • Provide excellent client satisfaction
  • Attending presentations, conferences and client meetings as required
  • Analyze and measure business trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives
  • Control shrink and expenses when possible for the client company
  • Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels
  • Periodically review trends and recommend and initiate changes for maximizing goals and objectives.
  • Create and build partner (vendor) relationships as required and when requested to do so
  • Explore and propose new revenue opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field (e.g., marketing, finance, management)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Fresh Produce Value-Add sales, Value-added, retail experience required.
  • Must display working competency in generally accepted accounting principles
  • Must be PC literate, with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software is essential
  • Must have knowledge of the internet and website e-commerce
  • Professional appearance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Able to work with minimal to no supervision
  • Customer service driven -Able to multi-task
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials,establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Ability to travel frequently and without constraints
