Job Description
We are seeking a detailoriented Junior Accountant to support the financial operations of our multilocation liquor store business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fastpaced retail environment, has good analytical skills, wants handson experience in retail accounting and is eager to grow within the retail accounting field.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily bookkeeping - reconcile POS reports, and record weekly sales to the General Ledger system
- Support store level ops by maintaining new items, price change and specialty ads in the WinePos system
- Support Month End Close by preparing reconciliations and schedules
- Inventory accounting - Assist with inventory analysis, shrink analysis, and cost tracking
- Accounts receivable - Monitor outstanding returned checks balances
- Bank reconciliations - Support monthly reconciliation of bank, credit card, and merchant accounts
- Participate in Process Improvements to help streamline workflows
- Support the senior accounting team with special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to meet deadlines with high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent reconciliation and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn industryspecific compliance
- Experience in retail, grocery, or liquor/beverage industry is a plus but not required
