Job description

We’re looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager who is currently working for a U.S. public accounting firm to lead multiple client engagements, manage internal teams, and deliver smart, strategic finance solutions. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations. You’ll be at the intersection of accounting, leadership, and client service—making a real impact every day.

Salary Range - $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

FINANCE & OPS

  • Manage ledgers, budgets, and financial systems—always GAAP-compliant.
  • Own the monthly close, audit prep, and variance analysis.
  • Forecast cash flow and monitor investments.
  • Oversee grant and project accounting for nonprofits and mission-driven clients.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and compliance (taxes, filings, etc.).
  • Supervise and support finance team members.

COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION

  • Deliver clear, timely financial reports to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support board and audit committee reporting.
  • Work closely with clients' leadership to set up strong financial systems.
  • Simplify complex financial data for non-finance staff.

TEAM & LEADERSHIP

  • Train, mentor, and grow junior staff.
  • Manage client engagement plans, schedules, billing, and weekly priorities.
  • Lead process improvements and tech upgrades.
  • Align your team to Calibre’s values and goals.

STRATEGY & GROWTH

  • Help shape client service plans and department strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client services.
  • Contribute to thought leadership—write articles, lead training, share insights.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years in accounting with leadership experience
  • Advanced QuickBooks + Excel skills
  • Experience translating finance to both execs and non-finance teams
  • Recent public accounting experience
  • CPA a BIG plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
