What is residual income?

Residual income refers to money that continues to be earned after the initial effort has been completed. This type of income often comes from investments, rental properties, royalties, or businesses that generate ongoing revenue with minimal daily involvement. It's a popular concept for those seeking financial independence because it allows for continuous earnings without constant active work. Examples include book royalties, dividends from stocks, or rental income from real estate properties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a residual income specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Residual Income Specialist, you need a solid understanding of financial principles, passive income strategies, and business development, often supported by experience in finance or marketing. Familiarity with CRM software, financial analytics tools, and investment platforms is typically required. Strong networking, communication, and self-motivation skills set top performers apart in this field. These abilities are essential for building sustainable income streams, managing client relationships, and adapting to changing market opportunities.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in roles focused on building residual income?

Professionals working to build residual income often face the challenge of developing reliable revenue streams that require significant upfront effort or investment. It can take time to establish systems or products (such as rental properties, digital content, or network marketing channels) that generate ongoing income with minimal day-to-day involvement. Additionally, maintaining and scaling these income streams often requires strong self-motivation, adaptability to market changes, and effective time management. Collaborating with others, such as financial advisors or business partners, can also be essential for long-term success.

About PayHub Payments

PayHub Payments is a family-owned payment processing company that has served local businesses for over 18 years. We help business owners set up and manage how they accept card payments. Our sales representatives are backed by an experienced onboarding and customer success team, so you can stay focused on meeting business owners and building relationships while we handle setup and ongoing service.

About the Role

We're looking for a mid-level outside sales representative to generate new merchant accounts and maintain those relationships over time. This is a field-based role centered on prospecting and meeting local business owners in person. You'll earn upfront commissions on new accounts along with long-term residual income, so the accounts you open continue to pay out for as long as those merchants stay with us.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and meet with local business owners
  • Identify opportunities to improve their payment processing setup
  • Generate new merchant accounts
  • Build long-term relationships and provide ongoing support
  • Work alongside our onboarding and customer success teams to ensure a smooth client experience

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of outside B2B sales experience (merchant services, payments, POS, or SaaS preferred, but not required)
  • Self-motivated and comfortable prospecting locally
  • Enjoys building long-term relationships with business owners
  • Professional, honest, and consultative sales approach
  • Motivated to grow recurring residual income

What We Offer

  • Competitive upfront commissions
  • Long-term recurring residual income
  • Extensive sales and product support
  • A local leadership team with direct access to decision-makers
  • A family-oriented company culture

  • We value integrity, strong customer service, and long-term relationships over high-pressure sales tactics.

Send your resume to austin@payhubpayments.com and we'll follow up. We look forward to hearing from you.
