Job description

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
The Team Lead, Research and Development reports to the Senior Manager under the Research and Development Department.
Summary:
Kalera is looking for an energetic, passionate, and enthusiastic new employee to join the research and development team to assist with expanding and driving improvements through research and development trials. This position is responsible for various aspects the successful growth, organization, and data collection of crop and system trials.
Essential Duties:

Monitor and supervise the horticultural research team members to ensure proper execution of trial protocols.

Ensure that trial protocols are conducted correctly, on time and as scheduled.

Follow protocols determined by supervisor to collect and process data.

Maintain calibration and proper functioning of lab equipment

Assist in developments to improve data collection, data analysis and R&D labor.

Maintain data and documents related to trials and trial parameters.

Monitor and record observations related to trial parameters including climate, nutrients, visual observations, etc.

Maintain nutrient solutions, and monitor parameters related to crop production.

Ensure the health and quality of trial crops during each phase of production.

Lead the seeding, transplant, and harvest of trial crops.

Lead the cleaning and maintaining hydroponic systems as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in horticulture, plant science, biological sciences or equivalent field required.

Experience with hydroponic systems, preferred.

Dependable, motivated, and able to work some weekends.
Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of a 365 day a year operation which may be subject to weekends and holidays.
