Team Overview
The Financial Planning Analyst supports the organization's strategic and financial objectives by assisting with financial forecasting, analysis, and data-driven reporting. This position will work collaboratively with the Finance team and department contacts to support budgeting, planning, and performance analysis. The Finance team's effectiveness directly contributes to excellence in ministry accountability, stewardship, informed decision-making, sound fiscal management, and the overall reputation of the organization.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of financial models to support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and summarize findings for review by senior Finance team members.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Work with department contacts to monitor spending and support alignment with operating budgets.
  • Assist in preparing financial schedules for funding proposals and periodic reports for institutional funders.
  • Support the identification of financial risks and opportunities and escalate findings to senior team members.
  • Support continuous process improvements to maximize efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial services and information, including automating processes and tools.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Excel and financial modeling; experience with data visualization and dashboard development using BI tools.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with exposure to financial planning and analysis.
  • Experience with Power BI and Domo
  • Experience using Sage Intacct and Limelight software
