This position is in-office M-F at our East Point locations and must be available to work weekend and flexible hours, as needed

About the Role: 

The Operations Lead plays a critical leadership role in the Atlanta Community Food Bank's mission to fight hunger by coordinating and overseeing the daily activities of the Protein Repack operation. This position provides frontline leadership to a team responsible for safely and efficiently repacking frozen protein products for distribution to partner agencies and families in need. Working in a cold-storage environment, the Operations Lead directs workflow, trains and supports team members, monitors productivity and quality standards, and ensures compliance with food safety, inventory control, and workplace safety requirements. This role serves as a key resource for resolving operational issues, maintaining efficient production processes, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. 


What You'll Do: 


Repack Operations:  

  • Coordinate and participate in daily protein repack activities, including sorting, portioning, labeling, packaging, and distribution of poultry and other protein products. 
  • Assist in directing workflow, prioritizing production activities, and supporting the achievement of daily operational goals. 
  • Serve as a backup to the Supervisor by providing day-to-day guidance to team members, addressing routine operational issues, and supporting staff training and onboarding. 
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move products and inventory throughout the facility. 

Quality & Safety:  

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, HACCP, GMP, and workplace safety standards while working in refrigerated and frozen environments. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area and ensure products meet established quality requirements. 
  • Support inventory control processes, including product tracking, inventory accuracy, and the timely communication of equipment, product, or operational concerns. 
  • Identify and support opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and overall operational performance.

  • Basic understanding of food safety and cleanliness standards.  
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes.
