Job description

Safety-Kleen in Brampton ON is currently looking for Receiving Chemist I to join their safety-conscious team! This position is responsible for Lab Pack Coding/Processing, Drum Receiving/Coding and Shipping of waste materials.  Primarily responsible for verifying counts and container sizes for received loads, performing initial sampling to verify acceptance of material, and applying proper barcodes for material tracking through the system.

  • Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Receives all lab pack containers and properly codes all chemicals for disposal processing.
  • Performs consolidation and / or repack of lab packs for final disposal as needed.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with repack/consolidation process.
  • Manages or oversees cylinders in/out of facilities; performs lab pack bulking when needed.
  • Manages lab pack reactive materials for ultimate disposal.
  • Samples all incoming drums and performs basic analysis of samples following prescribed procedures.
  • Calibrates and utilizes lab instrumentation required to run basic analysis.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with analysis and drum sampling; ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines.
  • Gathers and reports all necessary information for investigation of missing/extra drums and non-conforming drum shipments.
  • Weighs drums that require billing weights.
  • Moves drums from staging area to proper facility storage areas.
  • Responsible for proper management and shipment of all drum and bulk outbound shipments, ensuring materials are shipped to proper least cost disposal outlets utilizing proper profiles and paperwork for shipment.
  • Verifies receipt of all inbound materials by checking piece counts against shipping paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
