About Sixth Street Asset Based Finance

Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm dedicated to developing innovative investment strategies and fostering growth across various stages of business, is seeking a Vice President for its market-leading Asset Based Finance team. The Sixth Street Asset Based Finance group is at the forefront of asset/platform investing and origination, working across diverse financial markets, including residential and commercial mortgages, consumer assets, commercial equipment, renewables and energy finance, infrastructure debt and transportation. The Asset Based Finance team is a critical strategic capital partner and investor to companies and management teams and a solutions provider at scale. 

The Role

This is a full-time Asset Management Vice President role based in New York, NY or Dallas, TX.  This role will specialize in residential whole loan asset management for the Asset Based Finance team and report to the Head of ABF Asset Management.  While primarily focused on residential whole loans, the role is expected to grow into asset management across several platform verticals, including consumer, commercial and other esoteric assets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understand and take an ownership view of the assets/positions, markets and business plans for each investment
  • Carefully monitor positions, reviewing borrower/partner reporting and flagging key issues
  • Serve as the main point of contact for operating partners/borrowers/service providers for day-to-day asset management
  • Actively participate in standing calls with partners/borrowers for each investment/position
  • Perform ad hoc analysis for key asset management decisions (loss mitigation approvals and negotiations, foreclosures, REO repair and disposition)
  • Drive and coordinate internal operations processes (database and infrastructure management, cash reconciliation, monthly portfolio valuations, data drift and ad-hoc analytics)
  • Drive quarterly firmwide processes - Valuation Committee, Portfolio Review, etc. (senior asset management and deal team members to review and approve valuations/materials)
  • Assist with setting up key asset management processes at the front end of new investments/originations

Preferred

  • Ability to perform analysis, frame-up complex scenarios and provide clear and substantive recommendations
  • Strong technical skills with experience in database management and big data analytics using languages such as SQL or Python
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, with Tableau and Intex experience as a plus
  • Outstanding initiative and comfort being a self-starter
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Structured problem solver who is able to synthesize complex information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams

Compensation

The base salary for this position is expected to be $200,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate's relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and a competitive benefits package. Benefits offered currently include health, life, long-term and short-term disability insurance and a 401(k) plan. In addition, this role is eligible for paid public holidays (NYSE calendar), paid sick days pursuant to local laws, and additional reasonable time off subject to manager approval.

If a job offer is extended for a location other than New York, the salary range may differ based on the location.
