Job description

Position Summary: The High School Bible Teacher is responsible for providing biblical instruction to 12th-grade students, fostering their spiritual growth, and encouraging a strong Christian worldview. This role involves creating and implementing a curriculum aligned with the church and school's mission and values, and engaging students in meaningful, age-appropriate learning experiences. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Curriculum Development and Instruction: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Bible curriculum that covers key biblical principles, stories, and teachings. 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of students. 

  • Integrate a Christian worldview into all aspects of teaching and classroom activities. 

Student Engagement and Support: 

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages spiritual growth and character development. 

  • Provide individual support and guidance to students, addressing their spiritual, academic, and emotional needs. 

  • Encourage and facilitate student participation in discussions, activities, and projects that deepen their understanding of biblical concepts. 

Assessment and Evaluation: 

  • Assess and evaluate student progress through various assessment methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and class participation. 

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and spiritual development. 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and achievements through RenWeb, Google Classroom, etc. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to education. 

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and any concerns. 

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events. 

Professional Development: 

  • Stay current with developments in biblical scholarship and educational best practices. 

  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. 

  • Reflect on personal teaching practices and seek opportunities for growth and improvement. 

Spiritual Leadership: 

  • Serve as a positive Christian role model for students, demonstrating integrity, compassion, and a commitment to faith. 

  • Lead students in prayer, devotions, and other spiritual activities. 

  • Encourage students to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and live out their faith in their daily lives. 

  • Profess Jesus Christ as your personal Savior 

  • Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and is authoritative on all matters of which it speaks. 

  • Model Christian beliefs, thoughts, and actions toward others including a commitment to God’s Biblical standards. 

  • Endorse and comply with the CUSSD Statement of Faith. 

  • Place Christ and His Word at the center of knowledge and learning. 

  • A strong personal commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of Christian High School. 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, Education, or a related field. 

  • Teaching certification  

  • Previous experience teaching Bible or religious studies, particularly at the middle or high school level. 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of the Bible and Christian theology. 

  • Ability to integrate technology into the classroom effectively.
