Job Purpose
The Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects to ensure project objectives are accomplished safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role is responsible for leading solar PV, battery energy storage system (BESS), and hybrid projects from late-stage development through commercial operations, either personally or through coordination of internal and external project teams. This is a remote role that requires up to 50% travel to project sites.
Responsibilities
  • Manages the design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out of utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid renewable energy projects.
  • Develops, maintains, and executes detailed project execution plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
  • Establishes and manages project budgets and forecasts; coordinates regular cost and cash flow reporting with Accounting and Finance, as well as controlling expenditures within the budget.
  • Provides engineering and technical support to development, permitting, and interconnection activities as required.
  • Oversees construction execution, ensuring compliance with construction contracts, environmental regulations, permits, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Organizes and leads project meetings and provides clear status reporting to internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Manages execution of interconnection agreement tasks and coordination with utilities, including testing, energization, and achievement of commercial operation.
  • Coordinates with Legal on negotiation and administration of contracts, supply agreements and warranties.
  • Supports construction and financing activities, including lender due diligence and independent engineer reviews.
  • Works closely with Development to ensure a seamless transition of projects into construction.
  • Coordinates turnover of completed projects to Operations and Asset Management, including documentation, training, and warranty support.
  • Oversees Construction Managers, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer and quality personnel assigned to the project and ensures compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience managing utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Prior experience as a Project Manager or Owner's Representative on renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracting, project controls, scheduling, and cost management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects or project phases simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret project financial reports and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time and work on remote project sites.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desired / Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • PMP certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and hybrid project experience.
  • Electrical or high-voltage infrastructure experience.
  • Familiarity with Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) requirements, including domestic content and labor compliance.
