Job description

Senior, Art Direction

WHY DEPT?

We are a Growth Invention company built to help the world's most ambitious brands grow faster. Operating at the intersection of technology and marketing, we create what is next by pioneering ideas, acting fast, and moving further because standing still just is not in our DNA.

We are drawn to people who stay curious, move with intent, and never stop inventing. Our culture runs on three values: better together, relentlessly curious, and get sh*t done. It is how we work, how we grow, and how we make things that matter.

At DEPT, you will find the freedom to explore, the space to collaborate, and the trust to make a real impact for our clients, for each other, and for the world we are helping to build.

THE ROLE:

We're looking for a talented and strategic Senior, Art Direction to join one of our most dynamic and high-profile client teams. This is a hands-on role for a creative thinker who combines strong conceptual instincts, exceptional visual craft, and a deep understanding of how ideas come to life across social, digital, video, and emerging platforms.

As a Senior, Art Direction, you will lead the visual development of campaigns and content initiatives from concept through execution. Partnering closely with Copywriters, Motion Designers, Visual Designers, Generative AI Artists, Strategists, and Creative leadership, you will help transform business objectives into compelling creative that resonates with audiences and drives results.

This role is ideal for someone equally comfortable developing ideas and bringing them to life. You thrive in collaborative environments, have a strong point of view on craft and storytelling, and are motivated by the opportunity to create work that is culturally relevant, visually distinctive, and strategically effective.

You will own projects and workstreams with increasing autonomy while helping elevate the quality of work around you through strong creative thinking, collaboration, and executional excellence.

.WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop visual concepts and creative territories across social, digital, video, experiential, and emerging platforms.
  • Partner closely with Copywriters, Strategists, Motion, Visual Design, and Creative leadership to create integrated campaign ideas and audience experiences.
  • Lead visual storytelling throughout the creative process, from concept development and presentation through production and final delivery.
  • Contribute to pre-production planning, production, and post-production to ensure creative intent is maintained throughout execution.
  • Partner with Generative AI Artists to explore AI-assisted visual development and emerging creative workflows.
  • Present creative work clearly and confidently to internal teams and clients, articulating the rationale behind visual decisions.
  • Mentor and support Associate Art Directors, helping elevate creative thinking, craft, and execution across the team.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high standard of creative excellence and attention to detail.
  • Stay connected to culture, design, technology, and emerging trends to continually push the work forward.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 2+ years of experience in visual design with a strong portfolio showcasing digital campaigns, social-first content, and video-driven work.
  • Prior social agency experience or relevant experience with a track record of navigating high-volume, high-visibility accounts.
  • On-set and content production experience (domestic or international), including working with video directors, editors, and producers.
  • Strong client presentation and communication skills - you can confidently present ideas, take feedback in stride, and advocate for great creative.
  • Excellent design sensibility and a strategic eye for layout, typography, motion, and branding. Additionally, deep knowledge of social best practices for optimal performance.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset - you bring energy to brainstorms, jump in where needed, and support your teammates with generosity and respect.
  • A creative portfolio that shows your eye for design, your range in digital, video, and your ability to turn strategy into scroll-stopping creative.

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • 401K plan, plus matching
