What is a remote unclaimed property?

A Remote Unclaimed Property job involves researching and recovering unclaimed assets such as dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, or unclaimed insurance benefits. Employees typically work from home, investigating records, contacting owners or heirs, and assisting with the claims process. This role may require knowledge of state laws, databases, and financial institutions to track down rightful owners. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and data management experience are often essential.

What does a remote unclaimed property professional do?

A typical day for a remote unclaimed property professional involves researching and reconciling financial records, preparing reports, and responding to inquiries from claimants or state agencies. You may spend time using designated databases to track unclaimed assets, verifying ownership documentation, and ensuring all escheatment procedures are followed in accordance with state laws. Collaboration often occurs virtually with compliance teams, finance departments, and legal advisors to resolve complex cases and achieve regulatory deadlines. The work requires a balance of independent investigation and clear communication with both internal stakeholders and external parties. This structure provides a dynamic, detail-focused environment suited for those who excel at self-direction and organization.
