Job Summary:
We are seeking a Streaming Support Engineer to join our dynamic Technology Operations team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the deployment, support, and maintenance of Gray Media's advanced streaming infrastructure. You'll work closely with technical and editorial teams to ensure smooth delivery across live, linear, and FAST platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deploy and manage streaming hardware, including Edge Encoders and GPIO-based workflows.
• Configure and support SCTE-104/35 metadata insertion systems (e.g., Middleman, Crystal)
• Provide Tier-2 support for streaming issues escalated from the Digital Support team.
• Support Connected TV (CTV) Desk operations including VMIX integration and automation tools.
• Monitor and troubleshoot FAST and Direct-To-Consumer (DTC) distribution systems.
• Support various Master Control Systems and traditional broadcast systems.
• Assist in the rollout of new Streaming infrastructure projects and initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Proficient in SCTE 104/35 digital ad insertion standards.
• Experience with SRT, RTMP, HLS, and Transport Stream (TS) streaming protocols.
• Working knowledge of SRT encoders, closed captioning workflows, and video switching infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with vMix, BitFocus Companion, and related live production tools.
• Understanding of FAST channel architecture and DTC distribution platforms.
• Familiar with master control systems, news production workflows, and GPIO-triggered automation.
• Graphic systems including HTML-5 based systems (Flowics, Singular)
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
• 4+ years' experience in a broadcast station or media production environment.
• Experience supporting live streaming, OTT, or CTV distribution platforms.
• Broadcast engineering certifications (e.g., SBE Certification).
• Experience working with cloud-based playout or encoding systems.
• Familiarity with digital rights management (DRM), ad tech, or OTT analytics platforms.
