What is a remote title examiner?

Remote title examiners are professionals who review property records and legal documents from a remote location in order to determine the legal status of property titles. They assess public records, deeds, mortgages, and liens to confirm ownership and identify any issues that could affect a property's transfer. Remote title examiners typically work for title companies, law firms, or real estate organizations, leveraging digital tools to access databases and complete their work from home or another offsite location. Their role is crucial in real estate transactions to ensure properties have clear and marketable titles.

What does a remote title examiner do?

A remote title examiner’s job is to help individuals insure property by researching the property’s history for information regarding taxes, bankruptcy, mortgage loans, and foreclosure proceedings to name a few. In this work from home job, your responsibilities may include examining and verifying titles, summarizing insurance or legal documents, issuing title insurance coverage, interviewing clients, and acquiring rights of way. Other duties include researching records before real estate sales occur, providing research services to make sure that there are no issues with a title, searching private and public records for real estate agencies and title companies, and preparing title commitments and property reports.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote title examiner, and why are they important?

To address these, it's important to become proficient with digital title search platforms and maintain organized workflows to track document requests and communications. Proactively communicating with team members and leveraging secure cloud-based systems can help streamline processes and ensure accuracy in title examination.
