Job description

Overview
The IT Strategic Planner II will work closely with program leadership to translate mission objectives into actionable strategies, ensuring alignment between organizational goals, technology investments, and operational execution. This position requires a strong analytical foundation, strategic mindset, and the ability to synthesize large volumes of data into clear, forward-looking plans.
Background
Ardent Eagle Solutions (AES) is seeking an experienced IT Strategic Planner II to support a Department of Commerce (DOC) program. This role is responsible for providing strategic planning, analysis, and advisory support for large-scale IT initiatives and complex technical programs.
Responsibilities
  • Perform strategic planning and analysis for large IT or technical projects, or significant segments of complex programs
  • Analyze and synthesize large data sets to inform strategic direction and decision-making
  • Support the development and refinement of mission and vision statements
  • Translate mission objectives into actionable strategic frameworks and initiatives
  • Assist in defining organizational goals, priorities, and measurable outcomes
  • Provide guidance in the development of operational plans aligned to strategic objectives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and efficiency within IT programs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between business needs and technology strategy
  • Develop and present strategic recommendations, reports, and briefings to leadership
  • Support long-term planning efforts, including roadmaps and future-state visioning

Qualifications
  • Approximately 8 years of experience in IT strategy, strategic planning, business analysis, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing large and complex data sets to support decision-making
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level or large-scale IT initiatives
  • Strong understanding of strategic planning methodologies and frameworks
  • Ability to translate high-level concepts into practical, executable plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Education
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Information Technology, Business, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Certification(s)
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • ITIL Foundation or higher
  • Relevant strategic planning or enterprise architecture certifications

Compensation
The compensation range for this position is $152,000 - $160,000 per year. Compensation will be discussed in greater detail with candidates who advance in the interview process, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of qualifications and alignment with role requirements.
Compensation Disclaimer:
The salary range provided for this position represents a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined at the Company's discretion based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location, and contract requirements. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.
Location and Work Hours
This position supports a hybrid work schedule and requires regular on-site presence.
Employees will be expected to report on-site several days per week, with the specific schedule determined in coordination with their Supervisor. As such, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Boulder, Colorado. This position is not eligible for full-time remote work or for candidates located outside of the local commuting area.
Standard working hours are based on a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. While some flexibility may be available, employees are generally expected to be available during core business hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM MT.
When working remotely, employees must have access to a reliable internet connection and a suitable work environment that supports productivity and compliance with company policies.
This position supports a hybrid work schedule, which means employees are authorized to alternate between on-site and telework days on a schedule agreed upon and approved by their Supervisor. All employees must adhere to the Company's "Work from Home and Telework" policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and must sign the Employee Handbook Acknowledgement prior to being authorized to work remotely.
