Overview
We are seeking an elite, highly capable Austere Medical Provider to serve as the primary medical authority for remote, tactical, and cross-cultural operational missions. Candidates must bring a proven track record of delivering advanced medical care in austere, resource-limited, and high-risk environments, with the confidence and competence to manage complex medical scenarios independently.
Qualified applicants include:
• SOF-level medics: SOCM, 18D, SOIDC/SARC, PJ/Pararescue
• Advanced Providers: Physician Assistants (PA), Nurse Practitioners (NP), or Physicians (DO/MD)
All candidates must have significant tactical/operational field experience and a demonstrated ability to integrate into diverse cultural environments.
Travel may be required up to 75% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the senior medical authority, providing comprehensive medical oversight and decision-making during
operations.
• Deliver advanced clinical, trauma, and surgical-level interventions with limited equipment or external support.
• Conduct diagnostics and patient management without monitors, labs, imaging, or specialty consultation.
• Perform suturing, complex wound care, incision and drainage, abscess management, burn care, and other
common field procedures.
• Assess and treat a full spectrum of clinical complaints including tropical medicine, dermatological conditions,
gastrointestinal issues, infectious diseases, and prolonged illness in the field.
• Execute prolonged field care, stabilization, and advanced trauma management under resource-constrained
conditions.
• Operate cross-culturally and collaborate through interpreters and local medical partners when required.
• Provide mission-specific medical planning, risk assessments, and medical intelligence for assigned locations.
• Ensure high levels of readiness, supply management, and sustainment of austere medical kits, pharmaceuticals,
and equipment.
• Train and mentor team members in trauma response, medical readiness, and health preservation.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical patient care standards in all environments.
Required Qualifications
• Must be one of the following:
o SOCM / 18D / SOIDC / SARC / PJ
o PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Proven operational medical experience in austere, tactical, humanitarian, or cross-cultural environments.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently as the sole provider, making complex medical decisions without
higher medical support.
• Extensive knowledge in:
o Emergency and trauma medicine
o Prolonged field care
o Clinical medicine (broad-spectrum)
o Tropical and infectious diseases
o Dermatology and environment-specific medical conditions
o Minor surgical and procedural medicine
• Mastery of suturing, wound care, field procedures, and improvisational medicine.
• Strong leadership with low ego, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the team and mission.
• Clear ability to work with interpreters and foreign partners while respecting cultural norms.
• Current, valid licensing/certifications applicable to role and scope of practice.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior deployments or extended field experience in conflict zones, remote regions, or humanitarian/crisis-response
missions.
• Experience teaching or mentoring medics, host-nation personnel, or partner forces.
• Additional certifications in:
o TCCC/TECC
o Wound care
o Tropical medicine courses
o Emergency ultrasound (even if limited-use)
• Demonstrated ability to create medical SOPs, care pathways, and operational medical protocols.
